CNW 4-6-2 #596 - Chicago & North Western         
Still in commuter service in the mid-1950's, Chicago & North Western 4-6-2 Pacific #596 has served well for nearly 42 years. Built by Alco-Schenectady in March of 1914 as CNW #1596, it was much later renumbered to just CNW #596 in 1952. No final disposition date was found. . Specs - class E, 75" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 261,000 lb, tractive effort of 36,700 lb. A stoker was apllied in July of 1940. No photographer was listed for the photo.
