PRR 410, L-1S, c. 1952         
Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at Meadows Yard near Kearny, New Jersey, c. 1952. Prominent here are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #410 and #5417. #410 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during April of 1915 and retired in August of 1955. #5417 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in February of 1927 and retired in August of 1955. In the center are the sanding towers and the coaling wharf. ("Ken6264" A; #1 of 4)

Robert Hess General This photograph and the following two in the series of K4s engines were all taken at Meadows enginehouse in Kearny, NJ. The enginehouse and track arrangement at South Amboy was much more compact, with a small concrete coal dock, sanding facility and ash pit to the south of the enginehouse, and electrified tracks and sand rack to the north. 8/19/2021 9:48:58 AM
