Tom Beckett General This is a Harlem Line train, and will terminate at North White Plains. At the time, that was the end of electrification; trains going beyond that point, to Brewster, were diesel, in the hands of the fleet of FL 9's. Above Brewster, to Dover Plains, RDC's were used. Both types of cars, these, and then M 2's on the New Haven, ran with an underrunning third rail, vs the LIRR's overrunning rail. The pick up shoe could be changed to run on either, as it was spring mounted to make contact. The shop only had to change the direction of the spring. These cars would test on the LIRR Port Washington Branch before acceptance. MTA had a test shop at Shea Stadium on that line. 10/26/2020 4:50:18 AM
