MEC E7A #706 - Maine Central
Nice color slide taken by Gerald H. Landaue of Maine Central E7A #706 heading up the "Kennebec" passenger train The date on the slide is February, 1974 which is obviously incorrect for a number of reasons. Trees with leaves for one. This loco was sold to KCS and remumbered #7 in October of 1963 for reason #2. And most telling, the loco was scrapped in 1969. So, the date is approximate and based partly on the cars in the photo, mostly late 1950's models.

David Larrabee General Passenger service on MEC ended in April of '60 as I recall. I think this is looking west on the MEC Lower Road toward Augusta from in front of the Waterville station if I've glued the scene together porperly. /DL 6/16/2020 4:57:24 PM
