Under the signals  Contributor's Pick!
One of my favorite places to watch the LIRR action was Queens Village. It was easy to get to, usually there was parking, and it was busy. The added attraction was the row of PRR style position light signals at the east end of the station. Watching the lights change as trains knocked them down and they were cleared was endlessly fascinating. An eastbound Huntington train rolls under the signals, about to cross over from track 3 to track 2 as it makes its way through Queens interlocking, just to the east. The tower is visible at far left, beyond the signal bridge. Note the clear signal on track 4; a Hempstead train is imminent.
