MP S1 6602
This S1 was built in November 1940 as Texas Pacific-Missouri Pacific Terminal Railroad of New Orleans (TPMPT) No. 3. It was Alco serial no. 69381 and was the TPMPT's first diesel, as numbers 1 and 2 were 0-6-0's. The engine was renumbered 6602 in 1962, then it was sold to the Washington & Western / Standard Sand & Gravel at Clifton, LA in December 1966, and it went to the Railway Equipment Leasing Co. for parts in January 1981. Notice the TPMP lettering under the emblem on the cab. The photo was taken at the TPMPT’s Race Street Yard, along the Mississippi River in New Orleans.
