MILW "Little Joe" E74 - Milwaukee Road  Contributor's Pick!
When the order for electric locomotives bound for the Soviet Union in 1946 was cancelled, these locos, labeled "Little Joes" were sold to the Milwaukee Road and Chicago South Shore & South Bend. This is an example of the 12 axle powered unit. Unfortunately the b&w photo doesn't show the brilliant orange and black color scheme. Thanks to Bob Bateman (see comment below), the location is Missoula, MT. No photographer was listed for this photo. The day in October, 1972, is approximate.
