Title:  ERIE 2-8-0 #1018
Description:  Built by the Grant Locomotive Works in 1879 originally for the New York, Lake Erie & Western RR as their #545, it was transferred to the Erie as their #1044 in 1895. The Erie shops rebuilt it as camelback #1018, a class H-4 in 1897. C.W. Jernstrom photo

Title:  ERIE 4-6-0 #913 camelback
Description:  Built by the Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin) in 1901, this camelback ten-wheeler type locomotive was a class G-12 with 62" drivers, developed 200 psi boiler pressure and had a respectable tractive effort of 27,217 lb. Note the open and unprotected fireman's position in back. That would have been difficult working conditions. The day in February is approximate.Harold K. Vollrath photo

Description:  Here is the camelback version of the 4-6-0 ten wheeler, a much different configuration. Do note the extended cover for the fireman in the back. Built by either the Erie Susquehanna shops or Baldwin between 1891-96, this originally was New York, Lake Erie & Western #260, a class G-8, but was transferred to the Erie RR at a later date.
