This site contains a large collection of railroad photographs uploaded by many different contributors. You will find photographs of many different railroads! You can also browse the collection by locomotives or rollingstock present in the photograph, by the location the photograph was taken, or by locomotive model. Visit the contributor sites to see the collection of an individual contributor.

Use the locomotive search tool to search for specific locomotives. Type heritage in the tag field to search for heritage locomotives. More locomotive tags will be added in the future.

Site Updates in progress! You are seeing the first version of the new site design. We are actively working on technical updates to the site in order to make new feature development easier. This first update includes adding updated styling, improved mobile layouts and updates to back end technology to remove and update legacy code. During this transition time, you may see some pages with the old styling. We are actively working on updating these. You will also notice that the contribution and editing interfaces are still using the old format. These will be the next areas that will be updated.

Note regarding Rollingstock Several of you have brought it to my attention that there are a few rolling stock pages missing on the new site. I will be working to make these missing pages visible in the new site in the coming days. Missing pages include: Type and AAR Ranges, Car Type -> RR Listing, AAR Type -> RR Listing

As this is a pretty large project, you may notice some things that don't work correctly. Please let us know if you do see issues and we'll work to get them resolved as soon as possible.

We will also be looking to add features to make it easier for others to assist in curating the data that is on the site. Things such as updates/additions/corrections on locomotive and rollingstock data, etc. If you are interested, let us know as well. Once features added/updated that will allow us to grow in this area, we'll start to expand this group.
